Bone Mines Production

Some final production concepts done for the Bone Mines Map in Concord.

This was a real challenge to sell the fantasy of running around giant bones. In my research i found a lot of orthodontic as well as metal implants that had a nice balance of bones/metallic structures that I thought could help form the basic structure of a map. I looked at tonnes of orthodontic equipment and how they move bones to try and suggest wires being worked on the bones. As an arena shooter, it was hard to narratively tell a story and so we really focused on "hinting'' and "showing" than actual "telling".

Lots of attention paid to the sense of scale, distribution, buildability and noise control. Also a huge focus on construction/engineering for a sense of grounded believability in an otherwise scifi world to really sell the sense of weight and scale.
